Fes Sightseeing

We’ll start our Fes Sightseeing at the agreed-upon place, immersing ourselves in the spiritual heart of Morocco. First, we’ll head to Medina, one of the world’s largest walled cities. Its narrow streets bustle with fresh fruits, spices, and Berber carpets. During our visit, we’ll explore historic mosques like the Quaraouiyine Mosque, founded in 859 by Fatima el Fihri, and the Andalusian Mosque, dating back to 860. Additionally, we’ll admire the city’s elegant fountains, such as the Nejjarine Fountain, and delve into ancient Koranic schools, the Medersas, dating back to the 13th century.

Next, we’ll explore Batha Palace, now a museum showcasing Moroccan arts and traditions. Here, we’ll witness the age-old tradition of leather tanning at the Chouwara Tanneries and stroll through lively souks, including the textile Souk Attarine. Don’t miss the ornate green and blue ceramics at the Bab Boujloud gateway or the hidden gem of the 17th-century Ibn Danan Synagogue within the city walls.

As the afternoon fades, we’ll head to Borj North or South for panoramic views of the Medina at sunset.

Fes, often compared to Jerusalem, is Morocco’s first imperial city, dating back to the 8th century. Moreover, it’s renowned as the center of art and science in Morocco, boasting one of the world’s oldest universities. Its rich cultural and spiritual heritage makes it a must-visit destination.
