Begin your day trip to Essaouira from Marrakech at 8:00 am. Head towards the village of Sidi Lmokhtar, just west of Marrakech, crossing the Houaz Plains. Take a coffee break and continue past the unique Argan tree forest in this area, where you may witness goats climbing trees in search of Argan nuts—a wonderful and rare sight.
Pause at a local cooperative that processes Argan oil before heading to Val d’Argan, a vineyard established by a French wine connoisseur. Enjoy an optional wine tasting before departing for Essaouira.
Upon arrival, meet your local guide who will introduce you to the city. Explore the Medina, the Mellah (old Jewish quarter), the Kasbah (old military bastion), and the fishermen’s port.
Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, enjoy free time to explore the city’s beautiful beaches and relaxed atmosphere. Savor a cup of coffee or mint tea at the famous Place Moulay Elhassan while listening to atmospheric Gnawa music.
Essaouira, also known as Mogador in its old Berber name, is located on the western Atlantic coast, facing the small Purpureas or Mogador islands. The city experiences the constant north winds, also known as Alisios. UNESCO listed its Medina or Historic Center as a World Heritage Site in 2001. The magnificent beaches attract many tourists seeking sun and adventure sports like windsurfing and kite surfing.
After exploring Essaouira, your driver will take you back to Marrakech, concluding your day trip around 6:00 pm. You’ll be dropped off at your hotel or riad.
